Location: Ancona (Promontorio di Portonovo)      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Italy      Date: 21 May 2026
Trave is a rocky outcrop that extends for about a kilometer along the coast of Portonovo, in the municipality of Ancona, and represents one of the most picturesque stretches of the Conero Riviera. This long rock, emerging from the Adriatic Sea, is composed primarily of calcarenite and forms a sort of natural pier.
The Trave is visible from various angles, both from Mezzavalle beach and from the Portonovo promontory, and is one of the most characteristic places in the area.

Probably the small coastline belonging to a country which is famous for ski jumping. Cheers, Peter

Ski jumping?

My first intention was the adriatic coast of italy. But there are no high cliffs, exept Monte Gargano. I know the Gargano coastline very well, and it does not fit there. Next idea was Monte Conero at Sirolo or Numana, but the cliffs there look different. Maybe I should drive next time towards Ancona.

I think riviera del conero is a good idea. LG Niels
