Castello Due Torri has frequently changed its name; it is also known as Castello di Torriana or Castello di Scorticata.
During the Middle Ages, this area was dotted with castles, as the Malatesta family of Rimini and the Montefeltro family of Urbino vied for control of the territory.
This was a Malatesta castle; the family was ultimately defeated after centuries of conflict.
I posted this panorama for two reasons. The first is to remember Werner, who posted a view from this very spot back in 2008.
The second is to illustrate one of the reasons behind San Marino's independence—though I will only discuss that if someone asks about it in the comments.
