Die A87 biegt in Invergarry aus dem Great Glen nach Westen ab. Der Blick weitet sich, die Straße ist gut ausgebaut, und die Vorfreude auf (je nach Ziel) die Isle of Skye oder den Nordwesten steigt, so daß man hier in Gefahr ist, durchzufahren. Nur eine gute Stunde nach der wolkigen Stimmung am Commando Memorial (#34762) fand ich mich (anders als der Tagesverlauf vorhergesagt worden war) in der Sonne wieder und sprang für eine kleine Wanderung aus dem Auto. Mit dem Neuschnee der Nacht und der (eingezäunten) Aufforstung wirkt die A87 fast ein bisschen wie der Icefields Parkway -- naja, ein bisschen.

The A87 turns west out of the Great Glen at Invergarry. The view widens and anticipation builds for the Isle of Skye or the north-west (depending on your destination), so there’s a real danger of driving straight through here. Just over an hour after the gloomy atmosphere at the Commando Memorial (#34762), I found myself (contrary to the day’s forecast) in the sunshine and jumped out of the car for a short walk. With the fresh snow from the night and the (fenced-off) afforestation, the A87 looks almost a bit like the Icefields Parkway – well, a bit.
