Nach der Wanderung mit Sonne und Schnee am Loch Cluanie (#34801) fuhr ich mit dem Mietwagen nicht zur Isle of Skye, sondern auf dem Festland weiter nach Norden, ins Reich der einspurigen Straßen und Passing Places. Ich wollte nach 2010, 2012 und 2015 wieder einmal ins wilde Torridon. Einquartiert hatte ich mich im Torridon Youth Hostel - das ist in Schottland keine Einrichtung mit strengen Regeln und lärmenden Schulklassen, sondern von Flair, Publikum und Herzlichkeit mit einer gut geführten Alpenvereinshütte vergleichbar. Eine Viertelstunde nach dem Eintreffen hörte der Regen endlich auf; da der Check-In noch nicht geöffnet hatte, drehte ich eine kleine Runde am Meer und kann, wie seinerzeit (#11277) mit einem Stimmungsbild anfangen.

After my hike in the sunshine and snow at Loch Cluanie (#34801), I didn’t drive my rental car to the Isle of Skye, but continued northwards on the mainland into the realm of single-track roads and passing places. After visits in 2010, 2012 and 2015, I wanted to return once more to the wilderness of Torridon. I had booked a room at the Torridon Youth Hostel – in Scotland, this is not a place with strict rules and noisy school groups, but rather one whose atmosphere, crowd and warmth are comparable to a well-run Alpine club hut. A quarter of an hour after arriving, the rain finally stopped; as check-in wasn’t open yet, I took a short stroll by the sea and, as before (#11277), can start with a first scene that captures the mood.
