I think it's easy, but it was just an excuse to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
Garda is a small municipality. It is neither the largest, nor the most populous, nor the most famous municipality on Lake Garda, but, for historical reasons, it gives its name to the lake.
The ancient Romans called the lake "Benacus" (Benaco in Italian), but in the Middle Ages the name Lake Garda became widespread.
Garda derives from the ancient Germanic word "Warda," which indicated a strategic point for defense.
