Location: Castel Sant'Angelo      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Italy      Date: 2 March 2014
Castel Sant'Angelo (Engelsburg in German) was initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The building was later used by the popes as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum. The structure was the tallest building in ancient Rome.
It allows a very good view of Rome.

Thanks. I do not understand the reason, but is not allowed to take photos with a tripod from Castel Sant'Angelo.

A shame the Colosseum is partly covered. But very interesting to see the mountains behind Rome. BR Jan.
