Another panormaic view from the monastery of Mont Sainte-Odile with "La Chapelle des Anges" to the right.
La Chapelle des Anges - "The Chapel of Angels" or "Engelskapelle - is thus named in memory of the visions of which Saint Odile was favored. Also called the hanging Chapel, because of its bold position on the most advanced spur of the rock, above a precipice which it overhangs on three sides. It is a kind of square tower without any style, which had to serve as a post of observation from the distant times. This guard tower was later transformed into a sanctuary - perhaps by St. Odile herself!
