Location: Catania (Badia di Sant' Agata)      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Italy      Date: 22 March 2017
Catania is (after Palermo) Sicily's second largest city.
The city was almost completely destroyed in the seventeenth century by an eruption of Mount Etna and later by the 1693 earthquake.
Therefore, as like other cities of southwestern Sicily, historical center it was rebuilt in Baroque style.
This pano was taken from the dome of the Abbey of St. Agatha, only recently opened to the public.
Unfortunately Etna was covered by clouds, you see just only the top.

From this city, I know from several visits only the railway station and the airport. Seems to be a mistake. Cheers, Martin

Hello Martin. It was the first time I was in Catania and I can say that the old town is very nice.
