SOLVED RIDDLE.

Castro Marim is a small town in the Algarve, in Portugal, but close to the border with Spain. The Guadiana River, which is seen in the landscape, divides, in this area, Spain and Portugal.
The Castle of Castro Marim is a medieval castle on a hilltop overlooking Castro Marim. It was part of the defensive line controlled by the Knights Templar, but earlier the area had been inhabited by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Moors.

Before about 10 years I spent my holiday in Andalusia. The houses there were completely white. Here the white houses have coloured borders of windows and doors, more typical for Portugal (where I spent also a holiday). So I looked for rivers in southern Portugal next to the ocean with a rope bridge.

Yes it is a border area. The castle is in Portugal, but the town in front is in Spain.
