Vanatoarea lui Buteanu is the 7th highest peak in Romania, located in Fagaras Mountains - the tallest mountain range in Romania - at this panorama we can see top of Romania - Moldoveanu - 2544 meters. Unfortunally, to reach Moldoveanu we need 2 days of long walk. Buteanu is easily to climb summit, starting point is parkplace at Balea Lake - about 2000 m a. s. l. - highest point of Transfogarasan Alpine Road - built in Ceauscescu time. From there is about 2 hours ascent. Fagaras Mts is also tallest range in Southern Carpathians Mts, some of upper parts are transformed by pleistocene glaciers.
