The Rock of Manerba is situated on a rocky outcrop overlooking Lake Garda. On the summit there are the remains of the castle known as the "Rock".
There were found traces of a settlement of Mesolithic, that evidence the presence of humans about 8000 to 5000 years ago.
In 776 the fortress was the last bastion of resistance of the Longobards against the Franks of Charlemagne.
