Unusual indeed. Still i would like it better if you removed the construction crane in the left 1/3rd of the panorama. Cheers Auggie

Maybe nobody likes unusual views. The crane was there and I could not remove it. On the roof of the cathedral there are scaffolding for work and it was the only view possible. I thought you would have liked the contrast between the sacred and the profane.

You really had a good eye spotting the new towers framed by the old spires - great scene. Normally I also tend to show the world as it is. But in this case it is really tempting to follow the suggestion and remove the crane with Photoshop and thus restore the symmetry. Cheers, Martin

PS: It is a bit crazy that we all expect reactions within 24 hours, and panoramas are not often looked at anymore after 48 hours. Maybe we can all get a little bit slower.

Personally, I would have followed the opposite approach, namely, to show the crane in its entirety, slightly left of the statue. So: first third for the crane (in some sense, the future), central third for the skyscrapers (the present) and right third for the Gothic spires (the past).
This said, our luck (and what allows us to take one more photo in places like this) is that every individual has a different eye...

I do not know if I would be able to use Photoshop to erase the crane. Even if I was able, I do not think I would. Martin, you are right that we should not be in a hurry. Alberto, the story of the "Pirellone" of Milan and corruption in Italian politics I think it's too hard to explain to non-Italians, but the two statues seem to point the finger against the Italian politicians.
