Von #34567 (schöne Nummer ;-)) gehe ich chronologisch eine Stunde zurück - ich wollte aber zunächst die Mauer einführen. Meinen Ausflug an die theodosianische Mauer hatte ich in Yedikule begonnen. Dorthin fährt ein Vorortzug, auf der Trasse, in der bis ins 20. Jh. die internationalen Züge nach Sirkeci direkt ins Zentrum fuhren. Die "Yedikule Fortress" ist für Besichtigungen erschlossen und geöffnet; sie wurde nach der osmanischen Eroberung ausgebaut. Schon ab dem 5. Jahrhundert stand hier in der Stadtmauer das "Goldene Tor", auf dem die byzantinischen Kaiser zeremoniell in die Stadt ritten. Mein Standort ist auf ebendiesem Tor; die Aussicht verbindet Alt und Neu.

From #34567 (nice number ;-)), I go back chronologically one hour – but at first I had wanted to introduce the wall. I started my trip to the Theodosian Wall in Yedikule. A suburban train goes there, on the route where international trains to Sirkeci ran directly into the city centre until the 20th century. The Yedikule Fortress is open to visitors; it was built after the Ottoman conquest. As early as the 5th century, the Golden Gate stood here in the city wall, through which the Byzantine emperors ceremoniously rode into the city. I am standing on this very gate; the view connects the old and the new.
