Aufnahmestandort: Montepescali      Fotografiert von: Giuseppe Marzulli
Gebiet: Italy      Datum: 4 September 2025
The panorama mainly shows the northern part of the Maremma Grossetana.
The Maremma Grossetana is the stretch of the Maremma that corresponds to the province of Grosseto and extends from the Gulf of Follonica in the north to the border with Lazio in the south.
It was once a malarial and largely uninhabited plain. The few villages were only found on the hills.
Now it is a very interesting area Tuscany, with characteristics somewhat different from the rest of the region.

Etruria, necne?
Irgendwo in der Toscana, aber sonst bella Italia, formosa Toscana. Ein schönes Sommerpanorama, den Standort muß man sich merken, wunderschön, harmonisch: Herr Du führst mich hinaus ins Weite..."

I think you visited M…o….ali with the church of S. N. when you decided to do this shot of the valley crossed by V.A.

Are we partly looking at SS1?

@Christoph: V.A. I don't understand what it is. I think you guessed it, but I'm not sure.
@Hans-Jürgen: SS1, okay, but where?

You were looking down from an altitude of 222m. And I agree with Christoph on S.N :-)

Do we also see a somewhat "notorious" island ?

I didn't go there to visit the church of San Niccolò, which isn't bad, but I didn't know it existed.
This is how things went. I was driving north on the SS1. After Grosseto, I saw a small village high up on the plain, and since the day was quite clear, I thought I'd get a wide view of the area from up there.
I know that area quite well, but I had never been to that village.
So I exited the highway and drove to the village, whose name I didn't even know.
And indeed, I found an excellent vantage point, which I then marked on Google Maps.

I possibly found the spot (I can see the pine trees).

then switch to street-view.

But you must have walked up to the balcony.

I parked the car there. But getting up to the terrace is very simple, just a few steps.

I also saw that Christoph visited Vetulonia, an ancient and famous Etruscan city, in June 2024 and posted a view from there.
From Montepescali you can see Vetulonia and vice versa.

Now I understand Christoph's VA: Via Aurelia (but in Italy it wouldn't be abbreviated like that) :-)
And I put some labels of his very interesting pano.

Great that you could lift my riddle VA ;-)
Yes, Montepescali is very well visible in my pano view from Vetulonia. It was however Elba which was pinning it down for me …

Elba? I think you meant Giglio :-)
