Inaccessible saddle is, of course, not the true name, but this is one of the many nameless features that one finds in these mountains.
West there are the lagunas Cullicocha (not visible) and Rajucocha (partially visible): the valley is reached by the classical Alpamayo Basecamp circuit. East there is Laguna Yuraccocha, reached by a classical side trip.
So, it is difficult to understand why this pass remains ignored - maybe it is truly too difficult. On the Yuraccocha side it may be reached - in spite of the name created by me - on easy (although long and very uncomfortable) moraines and scree slopes. For the other side, I have studied the few photographs that I shot while descending to the Cullicocha from the Osoruri pass, at 4860 m highest point of the Alpamayo tour. I had the impression that the two lakes could be easily contoured on their south side, but maybe that the problem is connected with the fact that the Cullicocha is a dammed lake, so the level of the water can be changeable.
Looking now at the photo I wonder how I could make the mistake to miss the rock sporn visible on the other side, which would have been a much better viewpoint.
Probably I was aiming at the highest summit of the ridge dividing the two valleys, which was not far, but - as you can also see from the shadow that it casts - its ridge was actually quite jagged and, in these granite environments, it is very easy to find a difficulty blocking the way.
