Churches in strict classicistic style are rare in central Europe were everything is "so medivial" and never replaced. At least in my perception. Hence I was realy admiring this church (Suurkirkko) build 1820-1850. In the afternoon was everything completely crowded but for sunrise only I rose.

Turning his back to the church Alexander II. Nikolajewitsch, the reforming Russian emperor from the 19th century is watching over the place (and not Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim)

The whole ensemble was planed by Johann Carl Ludwig Engel who was very influential as architect in the 19th century.
