The Gulf of La Spezia is a wide and deep bay in the Ligurian Sea, at the eastern end of Liguria. It is also called Gulf of the Poets (Lord Byron and Percy Bisshe Shelley greatly enjoyed the place).

The Gulf hosts one of the most important italian navy arsenals, but also some of the most famous resorts of Liguria, as Portovenere and Lerici.

The mountains in the background are the Apuan Alps, famous for their marble (of Carrara).

Ciao Alberto. Sì, ero dalle parti del Monte Verrucoli, ma molto più in basso. Ho letto il tuo divertente intervento sulle Apuane. Le Alpi Apuane mi hanno sempre attirato (le ho viste spesso dalla Cinque Terre), ma le conosco poco (abito a Bergamo e non sono vicine). Qualche anno fa ero andato per salire la Pania della Croce, ma si scatenò un violentissimo temporale e fortunatamente rinunciai (alcuni escursionisti rimasero bloccati per un paio di giorni).
