I’d actually intended to post this a bit sooner, but I’ve been too busy. At least, whilst attending to my regular commitments in the Rhineland, I finally managed to pop over to the Ahr. There’s a lot going on there. Following the flood, the railway line has been back in operation since December. In the village, vacant lots, ruins and renovated or newly built buildings alternate. It’s astonishing how many people apparently believe that something like this only happens once every 100 years, and then invest in the floodplain. But it really is very, very beautiful there in that narrow, rocky valley. Afterwards, I went for a lovely walk, though it didn’t offer as many views.
