Zweiter Tag in Montenegro, zweite Wanderung von Herceg Novi aus im Orjen Gebirge. Mit dem Mietwagen auf enger und kurviger, aber guter Straße hinauf nach Vrbanj und dort montags allein am "Adventure Park" geparkt. Der Weg geht durch wunderschönen Wald hinauf in die Karstlandschaft, oben vor der Orjen Sedlo Hütte am Pass zum ersten mal über die k.u.k. Militärwege, dann schön am Südgrat hinauf zum Ziel des höchsten Gipfels im Orjen. Dort traf ich wieder auf gewaltige Bäume - Panzerkiefern oder Bosnische Kiefer, "Pinus heldreichii". Das sind Bekannte, schon angetroffen im Pollino (#26172) und in Nordgriechenland (#27656). Etwas unterhalb war mir ein einzelner, sehr netter einheimischer Wanderer entgegengekommen, ansonsten traf ich den ganzen Tag niemanden - wer mich kennt, weiß, daß ich das mag, und mich gleichzeitig immer wundere, daß sonst niemand diese schöne Landschaft genießen will.

Second day in Montenegro, second hike from Herceg Novi in the Orjen Mountains. Drove up to Vrbanj in the rental car along a narrow, winding but good road and parked there on Monday, all on my own at the ‘Adventure Park’. The path leads through a beautiful forest up into the karst landscape; at the top, in front of the Orjen Sedlo hut on the pass, I followed the Austro-Hungarian military tracks for the first time, then climbed beautifully along the south ridge towards the highest peak in the Orjen. There I came across some massive trees again – Bosnian pines, ‘Pinus heldreichii’. These are familiar sights, having already encountered them in Pollino (#26172) and in northern Greece (#27656).
