Cerro Castillo is one of those mountains of moderate height which, for their shape and/or position, stand out far more than expected.
One could say that it is the only beautiful mountain that one sees straight from the Carretera Austral: in a sense, it is "the" mountain of the Carretera. There are gorgeous mountains all around, but to observe them you need some detour, big or small.
Due to one of these detours (a big one indeed) in this precise moment I am not on the main Carretera, but 4 km away from it. After exploring Valle Leones (see for example N.19839) and Valle Exploradores (N.20374), I turned back south from Puerto Rio Tranquilo (N.22277) to Puerto Guadal (N.19223), in order to follow the terrible but incredibly scenic road of Paso las Llaves (N.27171) to Chile Chico.
At Chile Chico, after exploring Valle Jeinemeni (N.19977) and after a detour at Los Antiguos in Argentina, I took a ferry to Puerto Ingeniero Ibanez, from where a secondary roads joins the Carretera not far from Villa Cerro Castillo.

By writing "Carretera Austral" I wanted to give the idea that you have this view directly from the road, not going to strange places.
I like it to see some different views of Patagonia than the obvious and obligatory Fitz Roy and Torres Del Paine. Keep up the good work!
