Limone sul Garda is a town at the western bank of Lake Garda.

On 13 September 1786, Wolfgang Goethe passed by the village by boat and described with these words its lemon gardens:

Honestly, I don't like Limone too much. It has changed since Goethe's time and has become too touristy ;-)

Beautiful area. Your pano indicates that Italians do indeed come here - otherwise I would have assumed that since Goethe's time this place is safely in the hands of German tourists ;-) Cheers, Martin

Dear Martin, it's not an Italian or German problem ;-)
When I went last Tuesday, there wasn't a bar open in all of Limone. To drink a coffee I had to go to Gargnano.
What does this mean?
That, in periods when there are no tourists, the town is dead. The town lives only for tourism.
And this, in my opinion, is very sad.

Interesting that Goethe already described the change between the famous winds Vento in the morning and Ora in the afternoon on Lake Garda. I guess this picture was made in between.

I'm not an expert on winds and I can't say anything about this ;-)

In the 90s I was also often at Lake Garda in November and December and was impressed by the loneliness out of season - very fine light and a beautiful panorama!

Tanti saluti, Hans-Jörg

I also prefer to go to Lake Garda in winter. Except during the Christmas holidays, there are very few people and the light is often beautiful.
