Den Rest meiner zweiten Woche in den Bergen Nordspaniens wollte ich etwas weiter im Osten verbringen - zwischen der Autobahn Oviedo - León und den Picos de Europa. Auch wenn ein paar Tage der vielfältigen Gegend nicht gerecht werden, lockten hier doch noch ein paar attraktive Touren. Das erste Ziel war - nach steiler Fahrt ins Bergdorf Pelúgano - die Peña Mea. Nicht ganz so hoch wie die Berge am Hauptkamm, aber der Gipfelaufbau bietet (fast voralpentypisch) steile Hänge, Fels und stellenweise leicht ausgesetzte Wegpassagen. Oben am Gipfel hatten mich die Quellwolken eingeholt und das Panorama ist nur etwas für Liebhaber der Gegend - daher zeige ich lieber eine Szene vom Abstieg.

I wanted to spend the rest of my second week in the mountains of northern Spain a little further east - between the Oviedo - León motorway and the Picos de Europa. Even though a few days wouldn't do justice to the diversity of the region, there were still a few attractive tours on offer. The first destination - after a steep drive to the mountain village of Pelúgano - was the Peña Mea. Not quite as high as the mountains on the main ridge, but the summit features steep slopes, rocky terrain and some slightly exposed passages. At the summit, the clouds had caught up with me and the panorama is only something for enthusiasts of the area - so I prefer to show a scene from the descent.
