Nach der Übernachtung in Évora hatte ich am Vormittag noch ein paar Stunden für einen neuerlichen Rundgang durch die wunderschöne Altstadt, bevor ich über die Autobahn nach Lissabon musste, um den Mietwagen pünktlich zurückzugeben. ("musste" - so ein zusätzlicher Tag in Lissabon vor dem Rückflug am nächsten Tag ist jetzt auch nicht das allerschlimmste, was einem passieren kann...) Jetzt war auch das Dach der Kathedrale offen - die Panoramen von dort sind aber aufgrund der tiefstehenden Wintersonne und der baulichen Situation nichts geworden. Das bekommt sicher einer von Euch irgendwann mal besser hin. Stattdessen kann ich noch diese Szene von direkt vor den Toren der Stadt zeigen: Die nähere Umgebung ist mit der Umgehungsstrasse zwar mäßig attraktiv, dafür ist man am hervorragend erhaltenen Aqueduto da Água de Prata, gebaut 1531-1537. Spannend war es diesen, auf dem Rückweg in die Innenstadt zu verfolgen, wo über die Jahre diversen Häuschen in die Bögen gebaut wurden.

After spending the night in Évora, I had a few hours in the morning for another tour of the beautiful old city before I had to take the motorway to Lisbon to return the rental car on time. The roof of the cathedral was now also open - but the panoramas from there didn't work out due to the low winter sun and the structural situation. I'm sure one of you will get a better shot at some point. Instead, I can show this scene from just outside the city gates: The immediate surroundings are not very attractive with the ring road, but you can see the excellently preserved Aqueduto da Água de Prata, built in 1531-1537. It was exciting to follow this on the way back to the city centre, where various little houses have been built into the arches over the years.
