Die nächste Station meiner Kykladen-Rundreise war der Nordosten der Insel Amorgos um den Hafenort Egiali herum. Mein grober Reiseplan hatte hier eine Übernachtung vorgesehen. Aber schon bei der (gegenüber Fahrplan sogar etwas verfrühten) Anfahrt mit der "Express Skopelitis" und dem ersten Blick auf die steilen Felswände und die an den Hängen klebenden Dörfern beschloss ich, zwei Nächte zu bleiben. Ich hatte nichts vorgebucht, kam aber direkt im ersten Hotel am Hafen nach Herbeitelefonieren des Besitzers durch die benachbarte Bar sehr charmant und durchaus preiswert unter. So war sogar noch Zeit für einen kleinen ersten Erkundungsspaziergang zum Sonnenuntergang, bevor es in die Taverne ging, wo in einer kleinen Hafengasse ganz hervorragende Hausmannskost (gefüllte Weinblätter und Makrele mit Gemüse) serviert wurde. Schöner kann ich mir einen Urlaubsabend kaum vorstellen.

The next stop on my Cyclades round trip was the north-east of the island of Amorgos around the harbour village of Egiali. My rough itinerary had included an overnight stay here. But already during the approach with the "Express Skopelitis" (which was a bit early compared to the timetable) and the first view of the steep cliffs and the villages clinging to the slopes, I decided to stay two nights. I hadn't booked anything in advance, but after phoning the owner through the neighbouring bar, I found a very charming and very reasonably priced place to stay in the first hotel at the harbour. So there was even time for a little first exploration walk at sunset, before I went to the taverna. I can hardly imagine a nicer holiday evening.
