Petrognano is a small cluster of houses along the road that leads from Certaldo to Barberino Val d'Elsa.
Despite being an agricultural village, what is striking is the architecture of the buildings, which is more of a medieval city. This is due to the fact that it was built with a small part of the building material of the destroyed city of Semifonte.

From that chapel I took the view of Semifonte.
Wiki has an English and Italian article about Semifonte.
After the "Peace Treaty", the inhabitants had to demolish their own city and salt was plowed into the ground". Hefty times.
Cheers, Hans-Jörg
