Wir wechseln kurz vor Ardgroom vom County Kerry in das County Cork. Die kleine Ortschaft Eyeries ist eines der südwestlichsten Dörfer Irlands und liegt auf einer Klippe mit Blick auf die Coulagh Bay und die Mündung des Kenmare River in Richtung Atlantik. Der kleine Ort ist aufgrund seiner bunten Häuser bekannt. Nach einem kurzen Abstecher in den Ort zog es uns aber an den Atlantik.
Die Felsformationen am Strand von Eyeries zeugen von enormen Kräften, welche die Natur unternommen hat, um ihre kühnsten Formen zu schaffen. Die geriffelten, senkrecht verlaufenden und sehr scharfkantigen Rillen stehen fast quer zu den Brandungswellen des Atlantiks. Unzählige kleine Meeresschneckengehäuse säumen den sandigen Teil des Strands - ein Paradies für Muschelsucher. Der Standpunkt war nicht ganz ohne - ziemlich rutschig und scharfkantig, ins Stolpern sollte man beim Drehen besser nicht kommen.


Shortly before Ardgroom we change from County Kerry to County Cork. The small village of Eyeries is one of the most southwestern villages in Ireland and is situated on a cliff overlooking Coulagh Bay and the mouth of the Kenmare River towards the Atlantic Ocean. The small village is known for its colorful houses. After a short detour into the town, however, we were drawn to the Atlantic Ocean.
The rock formations on the beach of Eyeries testify to enormous forces that nature has undertaken to create its boldest shapes. The rippled, vertical and very sharp-edged grooves are almost perpendicular to the surf waves of the Atlantic. Countless small sea snail shells line the sandy part of the beach - a paradise for shell seekers. The point of view was not without its difficulties - quite slippery and sharp-edged, it is better not to stumble while turning.
