For sure not an unusual place for taking pictures there.
"Firenze, Piazzale Michelangelo" means nothing beats Giuseppe's wonderful panorama #14318.
Not to forget Werner's and Patrick's panoramas (#12000, #14160) which also give us an idea of how beautiful Florence appears by night from there to its spectators.
... just search in p-p for Firenze to catch them all.
My challenge was a bit different, namely to catch and hold the corner position of the balustrade!
Only this spot allows to show the entire city inclusive its ancient fortification wall on the left.
One more thing - colours (don't) matter :-)

I am curious to see all the other places you have been to.
Regarding the point of view, I agree with you. But on the evening it's very hard to catch and hold the corner on the ballustrade with a tripod.
So I took my pictures from the terrace of the bar below. The whole thing had a nice side effect: It wasn't boring for my "support team" ;-)
I am also curious what else you will show...
LG Werner
Ikonisches Bild in fetter Sättigung - gefällt mir!
