Da hoffe ich mit. War selber nämlich noch nie dort und will das aber irgendwann auch noch persönlich erleben. Dank Deiner tollen Serie und vieler anderer schöner Bilder hier auf der Seite weiß ich ja schon, wo ich alles hin muss.

But I must say: the fall of Venice is mainly linked to an insipient and voracious management of the tourist flows that has condemned first of all the citizens, who certainly do not need twenty-one million people at any time of the year and in any place, even the most hidden. The tourist invasion destroyed a "normal" city, a city that first of all should belong not to the world but to its citizens, and where instead citizens no longer count for anything, they are no longer anything (less than 57.000,00 inhabitants) . No other city in the world, of the same size and fragility, undergoes such an invasion. IMHO not only the city but also its inhabitants should have been protected. Like many other Venetians, I personally experienced the acqua alta of 1966. I have very precise memories of what it was and I know the disastrous consequences it had on the demographic structure of the city. But this year one thing struck me most of all: unlike in '66 there are now tourists who come to take selfies in Piazza San Marco underwater. This is unacceptable to me, it's a vilification, it's pornography. My city doesn't deserve that.

Immer wieder wunderbar, diese Stadt so menschenleer und auf ihre Architektur reduziert zu sehen. Aber nicht einmal hier darf der Weihnachtsschmuck fehlen...und der Rest der Diskussion betont leider wieder, wie zunehmend inhomogen die globalen Tourismusströme sind - nicht nur hier eine Tragödie. Umgekehrt gibt's die vielen einsamen Orte.
