This is a 53% crop of my previous pano to show the seal colony (3°-10°) and the abundant number of seabirds on the lower sludge plates of the Hooge Platen, a bit better. If I counted well, there are 120 seals, which is much more than years ago when they talked about a colony of about 50 animals. There is a second, smaller seal colony of about 15 animals on the Walsoorden plate and sometimes I see a few swimming very close to the dike here in Terneuzen. The number of seabirds looking for food on the lower sludge plates is enornous. I only roughly estimate a hundred thousand although I think it is a lot more.

Between 77°-90° one can see a clear mirage as if the dike is floating in the air.

Interesting how two different image compositions can be produced from the same material. A slightly prefer the other one, but a lot of addtional detail can be seen here. Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin, this illustrates how much detail is lost due to the archaic 500 pixels height. This site should increase the height to a minimum of 1000 which will do already a small wonder to the quality.

Hi Mentor, this site is not changed anymore since many years, and there is no point in discussing new features. We are all happy that it is still operated for us. Actually, when looking for the last change I looked for the "News" section which apparently has been removed - so maybe that counts as a change? Cheers, Martin

Ein wirkliches Erlebnis! Großartig!
Besonders gefallen mir die Luftspiegelungen.
