Location: Pot Miru (Sentiero della Pace)      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Slovenia      Date: 4 April 2018
I am in Slovenia, a short distance from the Italian border. In this area during the First World War they fought fiercely Italians against Austrians. But now I am walking on the so-called "Walk of Peace".

Comments

Even from that distance the colour of the Soca / Isonzo is incredible.

It is really true. The color of the Soca (Isonzo) is incredible.

Fantastic wild landscape there and gorgeous spring colors - an excellent panorama !!

Cheers, Hans-Jörg

An alpine landscape that seems to be very beautiful, but completely unknown to me.
I'm glad that we have a path of peace today.

This was a very troubled area from a historical point of view, where three different cultures and nationalisms met and often clashed: German, Italian and Slavic.
Now, but only recently, you can walk quietly. Let's hope it lasts.

As much as I am fascinated by water divides, I am fascinated by this one and only meeting point of the big three European families of languages.

As a matter of fact I always was a fan of the idea, to hold Olympic Winter Games in the area between Villach, Kranjska Gora and Tarviso.
You could hardly find a place more European.
Divided by languague and connected by culture.

And I fully agree with you, Giuseppe: It is a gift to be able to walk there now and not a century ago.
