Bei Niedrigwasser kann man von Saksun die Meerenge entlang bis zum schönen Sandstrand wandern, allerdings sollte man sich nicht allzu lange Zeit lassen - die nächste Flut kommt bestimmt ;-)

Aufgenommen mit einer Sony NEX-6, Brennweite 16 (24)mm, 10 Hochformat-Einzelbilder.

Ja, ich bin von Saksun losgegangen. Der Tidenhub dürfte bei vielleicht einem Meter liegen, jedenfalls ist er nicht sonderlich ausgeprägt. Es reicht aber aus, um das Passieren der Meerenge bei Flut erheblich zu erschweren.

People are often surprised how little the tide difference actually is on the Faroes. It is perhaps best explained by the likening of a rocker/eine wippe, or a tub/eine wanne. The effect accumulates at the far ends, hence the major differences in France and Labrador. The Faroes are moore in the middle of things, and the tide never really gets a large momentum here.
