It was of course a day full of "Danish weather". I could not get a glimpse of sun to take a picture of the bridge, but half an hour later we had beautiful sun ...
Needless to say - and never experienced by me as a "Denmark beginner" the Storebæltsbroen / Storebelt-Brücke did change a lot for travelers between the islands. You can only guess how big the ferry operation must have been - not all the landing piers are abandoned and start to crumble...
Also needless to say that I would love to travel to Sprogö, the island in the belt which is used for "hopping the belt" by the aid of the bridge.

Christoph, mir kommt es auch so vor, als wärest Du hier nicht so richtig bei der Sache, weil Du dazu auch kein Wort verloren hast.
Die Traurigkeit des Platzes hat mich angelockt, die Leere nach dem der Trubel des Fährbetriebes verschwunden war. Die Brücke selbst ist gigantisch und von den Kollegen besser dargestellt worden. Ihre Daten hier aus Wikipedia abzuschreiben - so was mag ich bekanntlich gar nicht-
Es war aber nicht mein Ziel stundenlang durch die Gegend zu fahren um vielleicht einen optimalen Standort für ein Brückenportrait zu finden. So was überlasse ich Einheimischen oder Personen mit sehr viel Freizeit.
Der geringe Response verwundert mich nicht. Ich habe beim Einstellen des Bildes ja auch praktisch "geschwiegen" - was Du Heinz vermutlich mit "nicht bei der Sache" meinst.

I think you capture the feeling of the place quite well. Like you say, the "leben" here was gigantic especially in the holiday seasons with "staus" for miles when waiting for the ferries, and many of us still think of the smell of naphtaline and burnt out coffee when seeing pictures of the ferries. Now, if one feels smashed by globalisation, this would be an obvious location to sit and remember the days of olde, and wonder where it all went...It is now a quiet place, apart from the noise from vehicles crossing the bridge.
