Location: Cerro Madsen (1792 m)      by: Pedrotti Alberto
Area: Argentina      Date: 22-02-2014
Given the huge queue of waiting works, I am not fully convinced to (re)publish a work which turns now out to be substantially a copy of the Cerro Madsen Avanzado that I published meanwhile (N.18839 or Umgebung).
I think that the interest for the Betrachter should lie mainly in establishing which of the two views he prefers.
Remember that "Cerro Madsen Avanzado" was a name invented by me only for the sake of photo archiviation, while in the present work we linger on the authentic Cerro Madsen - more precisely, turning around in precarious equilibrium on the tricky stone constituting the true summit. One of those objects in front of which you are brought to wonder "Shall I really climb even these last two-three meters?" And, as you know, if your concerns are about collecting a 360°, the answer cannot be but "yes".

Andreas Madsen was the Danish who at the age of twenty moved to Argentina in order to work in the Comisión de Límites directed by the perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno. He built an estancia on the shore of Río de las Vueltas, on the side opposite to that of nowadays Chaltén. In those times there were no bridges on the Patagonian rivers, and for example Father De Agostini describes Madsen welcoming his party, and guiding it in the perilous ford, because he was the only one who knew all the secrets of the river. If you understand Spanish, do not lose the opportunity to read the short but dense article dedicated to him on Wikipedia.

Outstanding, like all of the same kind.

Patagonia e nuvole

Ciao, Alvise

Excellent view down to the glacier - thx for showing again!!!

Saluti, Alberto.

HJBäu: knowing your photographic habits, I think that this should be interesting for you:

@Alberto
Thx for the link - really great single shots from the "King of the Andes"!!! The Condor before the Fitz Roy is a stunningly beautiful moment ...
