SOLVED RIDDLE.

Lac du Bourget (Lake Bourget) is a lake at the southernmost end of the Jura Mountains in the department of Savoie. It is the deepest lake located entirely within France.

On its shores lies the Hautecombe Abbey (Abbaye royale d'Hautecombe). For centuries this Abbey (in the mist in the pano) was the burial place of the members of the House of Savoy, the former Italian royal house. In the abbey is buried also the last king of Italy, Umberto II.

...I´ve checked every lake in north Italy via Google Earth.... no idea. It´s in the morning?

@Peter:

Kind regards, Matthias.

@Christoph:

Wieder was Schönes gelernt heute!

@Matthias K.

I must admit that I have not understood anything ;-)

Sorry Giuseppe for guessing in German, my first thought was Lac d'Annecy, which is close but still wrong.

@Giuseppe
after I had found the solution I wanted to give only a hint to other riddlers; so I posted something stupid in french language. Some minutes later the hint seemed to me to be a little to clearly. And my own sentence about the "Lake of Kochel" reminded me to René Magrittes famous inscription: ceci n'est pas une pipe". This created a little puzzlement, since in my first sentence I took the image for the reality, in the second I denied that like Magritte did. Ciao, Matthias

Congratulations Matthias, both have guessed, both to Magritte.
But what made you guess?
2015/06/20 11:19 , Giuseppe Marzulli
To me, the alpine landscape, the position of the sun, the bedded limestone rocks in the north and the characteristic peninsula with the castle have encouraged me to guess the lake. But to be honest, there really is no link to Magritte except the quote by Matthias K.: 'Ceci n'est pas un lac en France'.
Kind regards, Matthias.

I agree that there is not a close link with Magritte, but I really like Magritte and the quote, for me, is very interesting.
