Location: Durdevica (700 m)      by: Pedrotti Alberto
Area: Serbia And Montenegro      Date:
With a maximum depth of 1300 metres, the Tara canyon stands out as the deepest in Europe. Where this depth becomes milder, the bridge depicted here draws the attention with other remarkable figures.
I rarely quote Wikipedia, but in this case the competing page encloses, in few lines, such a density of information, that I cannot help recommending it:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%90ur%C4%91evi%C4%87a_Tara_Bridge
Note that the description originally figured out by me sounded completely different... it should have begun with something like "Looking at the few cars visible on the road, you will realize the dimensions of the underlying construction". Now, after having resized the picture at 500 pixels, I am far less inclined to speak loudly about visible cars. A circumstance, however, that gives me the opportunity to redirect the Betrachter to www.panoramio.com/photo/115968017 where he can help to spot the stitching bugs that, I bet, still linger on the bridge or in the several surrounding cables. Incidentally, you should have fun also checking how many false stitching errors you will meet: actually, the concrete happens to be aged, such that there are several "concrete bugs", even true holes!
People who do not like concrete at all are best redirected elsewhere in this valley: either up to the nice monastery of Dobrilovina www.panoramio.com/photo/96125053 or down to Visegrad, with its "Bridge on the Drina" (recall that Drina = Tara + Piva) so nicely depicted in the novel by Ivo Andric.
