Monastery of Santa Maria de Oia.
The Cistercian monastery began to be built on the coast of Lower Miño region, in the fishing port of Oia in 1185, but the latest addition to his church was in the 18th century. In 1230 this artistic construction became a reference work of architecture to the Cistercian Order due to its simplicity.
We are on the Atlantic Ocean, in Spain, but very close to Portugal.
Thanks to its strategic location, in past centuries, Santa María de Oia played an important role in defending the coast.
I think that nowadays the most interesting aspect of the church is its location on the edge of the ocean.

Molto bello!

P.S.: vedo che sul colore dei tetti si mettono d'accordo meglio che qualche volta da noi...

Less well known than many of your other views, but again a very nice part of Europe you are showing us. Cheers, Martin

Yes, indeed, it's a nice place, but little known even in Galicia.
But, probably, Friday I will be in Berlin and therefore you can not say that I'll be in a place not well known ;-).
