Plavec Castle is a medieval fortress located on a hill above the Poprad River. It was probably built in the 13th century as part of the defensive system of the northern borders of the Kingdom of Hungary. Over the centuries, it served a strategic function, protecting important trade routes. The castle was rebuilt many times and changed owners, which influenced its diverse architecture. It burned down in the 17th century, which contributed to its gradual decline. Today, it remains in the form of ruins that are an attractive tourist destination and a scenic viewpoint.

I have never been east of the Tatra in Slovakia, but it could be a good idea to go there once.
Cheers, Hans-Jörg
