Wie bereits per Rätsel eingeführt, habe ich es für meinen (mittlerweile fast schon traditionellen) Dezemberurlaub für 5 Tage nach Istanbul geschafft. Es war etwas kühler als erhofft, dafür war touristisch nicht viel los. Leben íst ja auch sonst genug in der Stadt. Hier ein Bild vom ersten Abend; Sonnenuntergang war gegen 17:30 Uhr. Das Goldene Horn ist ein Seitenarm des Bosporus und mit seinem natürlichen Hafen einer der Gründe für die Entstehung dieser bedeutenden Stadt an dieser strategisch günstigen Stelle. Noch heute ist es lebendiger Fährhafen für die öffentlichen Linien den Bosporus entlang und auf die asiatische Seite. Gegenüber liegt Galata, das in osmanischer Zeit das Viertel der Europäer war und auch heute noch mit den angrenzenden Vierteln bis zum Taksim der am europäischsten anmutende Stadtteil ist. Die Aussicht vom Turm kommt natürlich noch. Die Galata Brücke mit den charakteristischen Fischrestaurants unter der Fahrbahn wurde nach einem Brand 1992 neu erbaut. Verblüfft hatte mich der neue 360m hohe Fernsehturm auf dem Çamlica Hügel - dazu noch separat etwas.

As already hinted at in the riddle, I managed to get away to Istanbul for five days for my (now almost traditional) December holiday. It was a little cooler than I had hoped, but at least there weren't many tourists around. There's enough life in the city as it is. Here's a picture from the first evening; sunset was around 5:30 p.m. The Golden Horn is a branch of the Bosphorus and, with its natural harbour, one of the reasons why this important city was built in this strategically favourable location. Even today, it is a lively ferry port for public transport along the Bosphorus and to the Asian side. Opposite is Galata, which was the European quarter during the Ottoman period and, together with the neighbouring districts up to Taksim, is still the most European-looking part of the city today. The view vom the tower will follow. The Galata Bridge, with its characteristic fish restaurants under the roadway, was rebuilt after a fire in 1992. I was amazed by the new 360-metre-high television tower on Çamlica Hill – more on that separately.
