Aufnahmestandort: Monte Reixa (1183 m)      Fotografiert von: Giuseppe Marzulli
Gebiet: Italy      Datum: 31 August 2026
Mount Reixa is a peak in the Western Ligurian Apennines, rising northwest of Genoa.
Situated on the main Apennine watershed, it is a rounded, low-prominence peak covered in grassland right up to the summit, which affords it excellent panoramic views. In theory, a vast stretch of the Alps (from the Ligurian Alps to the Adamello) is visible from Reixa, though this rarely happens; indeed, I cannot identify almost any Alpine peaks in this view.

Too many Italian mountains with statues of Madonna ….

... and following to HJB1's comment on my riddle, I'll say: "Definitely not Gran Paradiso ... despite Madonna" ;-) !! By the way, another very interesting and inviting landscape panorama.

Cheers, Hans-Jörg

I am fully aware that including a peak in Italy featuring a statue of the Madonna and a crucifix isn't much help.
But it wasn't my intention to help you too much ;-)

Anyway, if I were to show the view in the opposite direction—which I’ll do if no one guesses it correctly—the area would be immediately recognizable.

Let me take a.chance.
Mount O...o ?

No, but feel free to write the full name. Let's see if you've more or less guessed the area correctly.

Monte Orsaro
There are pictures that look similar

It is a peak in the Apennines, but it is not too close to Monte Orsaro.

Monte Ma.....a ?

Thank you for your persistence. It is not in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.

Meanwhile I am convinced, that this is NOT a mountain top. Something is hidden from us. I assume traces of civilization…

one more chance
... Ligurian Apennine peak of Mount Reixa ?

behind, we then would find Genua.
18.09.2026 13:57 , Hans-Jürgen Bayer
Okay. Monte Reixa, 1.183 meters. Tomorrow, from there, we’ll see Genova and the sea below.

I would like to point out that the cross was installed in 2021; therefore, it does not appear—or at least not in that form—in older photos found online from before 2021.
It is an unusual, stylized crucifix that commemorates the victims of the 2018 collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa.
