In the evening of May 24, 2019, in Mukitnath, one of the most sacred places in the Himalaya, the news arrived that Nirmal Purja had completed the ascent of the Makalu, just two days after climbing Everest and Lhotse in one single day. This was perhaps the most sensational achievement within his "Project Possible", namely, the climb of the 14 8000 in six months and six days.
He reached worldwide fame in the Everest region, SE of here. Last week he died under an avalanche in the Karakorum, NW of there. But his skies are precisely those in this previously unpublished panorama. Namely, he was a Gurkha, not a Sherpa, and he was born 50 km south of Muktihath.

As for the photos: I woke up in the night, and the the nine pictures were taken between 01:25 and 01:41, with the Canon G1X.
Whereas in the Khumbu I had also a tripod (because I had porters...), which I used for example to shoot N.26579, here I had to negotiate the job with local stones... hence the long time needed to complete the work, and also the failure to include the nice strip of prayer flags that were there, a little below (you guess only the beginning).

Affascinante.

Obviously difficult to sleep with such a sight. The horizon to the right seems bent, but given the circumstances, this is no major issue. Cheers, Martin

Martin: probabily you are right.
According to Udeuschle, the Gangapurna is slightly higher on the horizon than the Khangsar Kang (aka Roc Noir), but perhaps not so much.
Maybe I set control points on minor summits where the rendering is less reliable, and this distorted the major summits. I will check.
In N.25625 Gangapurna wins easily over the Roc Noir, and in N.26507 the Roc Noir wins easily over the Gangapurna. Here perhaps we should have a tie.
Cheers, Alberto
