Sorano is a town in the province of Grosseto, in southern Tuscany.
It is an ancient medieval hill town perched on a tuff outcrop overlooking the Lente River. The tuff rocks of the Etruscan territory give rise to spectacular cave cities, monumental tombs, and mysterious cavernous passages. The most important cities in this region are Pitigliano, Sorano, and Sovana.
