The Punta Palascìa lighthouse is the easternmost point of Italy and the narrowest point of the Strait of Otranto, where the Adriatic Sea conventionally ends.
Few people realize how far east Puglia is.
If I told you that the Punta Palascia lighthouse is further east than Stockholm and roughly on the same longitude as Danzig, would you believe me?

Southernmost point of Italy is in line with Antalya and westernmost in line with Cologne.
Ein Fernblick auf Albaniens Zentrale Gebirgsstöcke mit Gipfeln um und über 2.000 m sollte an Tage mit klarer Luft von hier aus möglich sein.

I saw them once. About thirty-five years ago.
At the time, I didn't take photographs and wasn't as knowledgeable about geography as I am now.
I went to Otranto, which is a beautiful town very close to this lighthouse, and at a certain point I saw some high mountains that seemed to emerge from the sea. I couldn't figure out what they were. It seemed like a dream. At the time, Albania was a country unknown to everyone, slowly emerging from a brutal isolation.
Asking around, they told me they were the mountains of Albania, but that seemed impossible.
When I went there now, my wish was to be able to photograph the mountains of Albania, but it wasn't possible. It requires rare weather conditions.
In this panorama the mountains of Albania are beyond the sea, but cannot be seen.
The most southerly point of Italy (if you count islands) should be Lampedusa?

To the east, it's a little different. In Italy, when people talk about the easternmost point, they commonly think of Trieste. But Capo Palascia is much further east than Trieste.
Obviously, I'm not talking about geography experts, but about the general public.
