Die Halbinsel Aliki (für eine Übersicht siehe #34126) besteht größtenteils aus dem in Thassos weit verbreiteten Marmor, der hier aufgrund seiner leichten Zugänglichkeit schon in der Antike abgebaut und verschifft wurde. Das Satellitenbild zeigt, dass dem große Teile der Insel zum Opfer fielen - die Steinbrüche hier waren vom 7. Jh v. Chr., bis zum 7. Jh. n. Chr. in Betrieb. Heute erschließt ein schöner Rundweg Ruinen, Wald und Küste. An einer Stelle kann man in den alten Steinbruch bis ans Meer absteigen.

The Aliki peninsula (for an overview, see #34126) consists largely of marble, which is widespread in Thassos and was mined and shipped from here in ancient times due to its easy accessibility. The satellite image shows that large parts of the island fell victim to this – the quarries here were in operation from the 7th century BC to the 7th century AD. Today, a beautiful circular trail takes visitors to ruins, forests and the coast. At one point, you can descend into the old quarry down to the sea.
