Der Monat Mai stellte sich in Süditalien mit zwei Schlechtwettertagen vor. Nach den erfolgreichen Bergwanderungen der Vortage perfekt, um auch die kulturellen Highlights der Region zu würdigen. Da das Vallo di Diano auch explizit im Namen des Naturparks Cilento vorkommt, nehme ich Padula, mein zweites Ziel an diesem Tag, auch in die Serie mit rein. Zuerst war ich im "Valle delle Orchidee" gewesen und hatte die dortige (sehr vielfältige aber eher kleinwüchsige) Blumenpracht bestaunt - meine Fähigkeit, diese zu panoramisieren, ist aber weit von dem entfernt, was Wilfried uns hier regelmäßig zeigt.

Das Kartäuserkloster von Padula ist eine sehr beeindruckende Anlage. Zu denken gab mir insbesondere der Kontrast zwischen dem asketischen Leben der Mönche und der baulichen Pracht, die der erhebliche Reichtum des Klosters erlaubte. Mehr auf https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kartause_von_Padula

The month of May introduced itself with two days of bad weather in southern Italy. After the successful mountain hikes of the previous days, it was the perfect time to appreciate the cultural highlights of the region. As the Vallo di Diano is also explicitly mentioned in the name of the Cilento Nature Park, I include Padula, my second destination for the day, in the naming of the series. I had first been to the "Valle delle Orchidee" and marvelled at the (very diverse but rather small-grown) floral splendour there - but my ability to panoramicise it is a far cry from what Wilfried regularly shows us here.

The Carthusian monastery of Padula is a very impressive complex. I was particularly struck by the contrast between the ascetic life of the monks and the architectural splendour that the monastery's considerable wealth allowed. More at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certosa_di_Padula
