This is the Thorbeckegracht with the Pelser bridge as it looked in 1985. The bridge connects the quay to the city center of Zwolle and was built in 1974. The bridge is named after the fur workers who perform their work in Zwolle in the 15th century.

Around 1600, the city was steadily expanding to the north. Houses were built on the Dijk (now the Thorbeckegracht) outside the Vispoort (Noordereiland). Due to this expansion drive, the number of houses rose very quickly. The residents regularly complained to the city council about the isolated location of their houses. As a result, they received permission in 1686, at their own expense, to build a footbridge at the Pelserpoort and so it happened.

About 35 years ago I made this kind of widescreen pictures for the promotion of tourism. The individual photos were put together by the lithographer, who made the photos suitable for ready-made materials for the printer. It was manual work because computers and photo programs did not yet exist.
