SOLVED RIDDLE.
The Barrière de l'Esseillon, or Forts of l'Esseillon, is a series of five fortifications located in France in the town of Aussois in the department of Savoie in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Built in the nineteenth century on a rock lock closing the upper valley of the Arc (Maurienne Valley), these fortifications had the role of protecting the Cisalpine part of the Kingdom of Sardinia from a possible French invasion. It includes four forts and a redoubt, which have the names of members of the House of Savoy.
