Aufnahmestandort: Rifugio Bocca di Selva (near) (1580 m)      Fotografiert von: Giuseppe Marzulli
Gebiet: Italy      Datum: 17 December 2016
It was a long time that I wanted to go to the Refuge Bocca di Selva, in Lessinia, an area north of Verona, to photograph the Monviso from 330 Km. Yesterday I managed to go. The visibility was excellent towards the Apennines, but not so good towards the Alps. Only after the sun had set, it was possible to see the Monviso.
The Po valley was instead covered in fog.
Around Monviso there were some clouds. Then we will see a detailed pano with the 300 mm.

6 photos; 70 mm (full format); f6,3; 1/25 sec.; 200 ISO; with tripod.

Impressive - a new long distance record with a view to Monte Viso?

Cheers, Hans-Jörg

Yes, Monviso.

This is fantastic! Congratulations to this terrific view and beautiful panorama!

tatatata!!!
330 km is top. Congretulations, Giuseppe, for this impressive document: Lago di Garda together with Monviso, that's superb! Regards Peter

Just astonishing! This must be a rare document in context to far views.

In theory, always from Lessinia, you can reach the 350-360 Km, over the French border.
18.12.2016 15:16 , Giuseppe Marzulli
I can imagine this magic moment and I'm waiting for the tele.
18.12.2016 19:37 , Steffen Minack
Hello Steffen. The most exciting thing was that until sunset I had not seen Monviso and I did not know if I would see it.
I saw the Monviso only after sunset and I was not even sure to see it.
I believe that the tele disappoint some. While the peaks of Apennines were visible very well, all the peaks of the Cottian Alps were covered by clouds, except the highest part of Monviso.
Theoretically from that point are visible mountain peaks even distant 350 Km.

Allora hai realizzato il sogno!
18.12.2016 22:24 , Pedrotti Alberto
18.12.2016 22:58 , Giuseppe Marzulli
Congratulations Giuseppe, with this *clear* record distance view...up till now...
But I wonder: is this 70mm kb, I should think it reflects a lot more tele?

Insomma, c'è da lavorare...
Una cosa che avrei nel mirino io invece è questa: https://goo.gl/R9WcGk
Piú orientata agli Appennini...
18.12.2016 23:31 , Pedrotti Alberto
@Mentor: the advantage of Monviso compared to other major Alpine peaks is that its nearby mountains are considerably lower. Therefore the Monviso stands out most (see pano 19053).
@Alberto: sarebbe straordinaria.

Tu felix Italia! In Germany it is unfortunately impossible to see that far. - Monviso seems to be - regardless of its prominence - somewhat superelevated by refraction. KR Wilfried

Tremendous. And I was already impressed by Monte Viso from 150km from the Monte Rosa - you've more than doubled! Cheers, Martin

Congratulations to this very impressive and informativ presented far distance view record! Location and time are well chosen.
19.12.2016 20:28 , Jörg Braukmann
Thanks you all for the comments.
@Wilfried and Mentor: seeing the highest part of Monviso photographed with 300 mm, probably it is covered by some clouds that make it look taller. It is not easy to understand, 330 Km are many and visibility to the Alps was not exceptional.
Probably it is also possible to recognize the Punta Ramiere (Bric Froid in French), which would be 335 Km.
As soon as I can, I will let you see the pano with the 300, and we can understand better.
19.12.2016 20:33 , Giuseppe Marzulli
Giuseppe, I still have some confusion about the characteristics. What do you mean by 70mm full format? Did you use a 300 mm lens on a full frame camera ? If so this means a 6 fold magnification? I would like to know because I try to imagine how the reality (naked eye view ) looks like.
20.12.2016 01:08 , Mentor Depret
Hello Mentor. This pano was taken with focal lenght 70mm full frame and corresponds well enough to the vision that you have in reality. It is just a little magnified.
I also have a pano with 300 mm full frame that I will put in tomorrow. The magnification is approximately 4,3.
But 330 km are many and the quality with 300 mm is not great.
20.12.2016 12:25 , Giuseppe Marzulli
Ancora una volta sensazionale.
Saluti Wolfgang

Also from me congratulations to this extraordinary far view.

The lonely mountain.. the Hobbit.. :-)

Dear Giuseppe. This is by far the wildest view ever presented here on the 2 pano-sites. A belated congratulation from me. I am extremely envious! KR Jan.
22.02.2017 22:32 , Jan Lindgaard Rasmussen
Thanks Jan. As has been said, in Italy geography helps. Unfortunately, other things are less well ;-)
