Ciao, hai per caso incontrato un uomo con sette mogli, e ogni moglie aveva sette sacche, etc.?

Heinz: curiously enough, sette or cinque is irrelevant for the orthodox solution of the riddle.

I agree with Heinz - near my favorite parking place with the camper ;-) ... great view Giuseppe!

Tanti saluti, Hans-Jörg

Hans-Jörg, I found no match with the five bays, which is why I have withdrawn cinque.
Alberto, is St. Ives not in a other riddle.

Take a look at my TESTPLATZ #11177 with 5 shots ... great place to hike, to climb or to enjoy italian life ;-) ...
17.10.2015 23:35 , Hans-Jörg Bäuerle
@Hans-Jörg: I was not sure you'd understand, but after seeing your testplatz, I'm sure ;-)

HH: thank you, I did not know the English version.
I am already wondering how this might work in Germany.
Einmal, auf dem Weg nach ...
traf ich einen Mann mit sieben Bräute.
Having an uncle from Pfronten, the first solution that comes to my mind (für diese der Bräute reiche Beute) is Reutte, but I do not know if it is acceptable and, in case, unique.

So, a riddle in a riddle ;-)
Fantastic. But I am afraid that few others will understand.

The riddle reported by Heinz in English is as follows:

As I was going to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives.
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits;
Kits, cats, sacks and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?
18.10.2015 00:54 , Giuseppe Marzulli
In Italy, the town of the riddle is not St. Ives, but what you see in this pano.

The riddle in German is so:

Ich ging nach St. Ives im Morgengrauen
und traf ’nen Mann mit sieben Frauen.
Jede Frau trug sieben Sack’,
drin sieben Katzen huckepack.
Sieben Kätzchen jede Katze hat.
Kätzchen, Katzen, Säcke, Frauen,
wie viele gingen nach St. Ives im Morgengrauen?
18.10.2015 10:12 , Giuseppe Marzulli
some of you have real fun here :-)))))
18.10.2015 10:23 , Christoph Seger
@Christoph: it was all your fault ;-)
As in the riddle of Florence (pano 18440) you said that was not a real riddle, I wanted to propose this time a double riddle.
But....
How many were going to St. Ives (or this town)?
18.10.2015 10:37 , Giuseppe Marzulli
Saluti, Alberto.

All the time the flat area in the far distance was disturbing me and leading me away from the 5 villages. Finally I could find the rhyme and everything fitted. Thank you for this riddle :-))
18.10.2015 18:30 , Christoph Seger
Ok. In Italian the riddle is so:
Per la strada che porta a Camogli
passava un uomo con sette mogli.
Ogni moglie aveva sette sacche,
in ogni sacca aveva sette gatte,
ogni gatta sette gattini.
Fra gatti, gatte, sacche e mogli
in quanti andavano, dite, a Camogli?

It is the same as English and German, but the town of the riddle in Italian is not St.Ives, but Camogli.

I am too late for the riddle, but I like the pano!
