In the Ziz valley, little north of Errachidia, where - for local people - it is simply "le barrage".
What happens in the Ziz valley south of Errachidia, I showed in my last pano.
What happens between the two spots and, especially, north of the lake, I will hopefully show next.

It is the sweet water of the river Ziz. The dam was built in 1968-71 to protect the Errachidia area from sudden swellings of the river. One thinks of Morocco as an overall arid region, but while going back to Fès I saw entire plateaux of the Atlas being heavily flooded. The seasonal rains coming from the Atlantic, combined with the melting of the snow (in the Ayachi panorama one can also appreciate the amount of the latter), can have their effects.

What I like about Morocco is that the layering of the rocks is exposed in so many places due to the lack of soil. Especially nice in contrast to the blue water. Cheers, Martin
