Dann doch wieder aufs Land. Für die zwei Tage auf Andros hatte ich ein kleines Auto gemietet. Damit konnte ich nach dem ersten Besuch der Chora und der großen Wanderung um sie herum am Nachmittag noch den Osten der Insel erkunden. Ich war nicht im Detail vorbereitet, aber die Burg auf den markanten Felsen stach mir doch sehr verlockend ins Auge, so daß ich im Dorf Kochilou parkte und kurzerhand die halbe Stunde aufstieg als Zweitwanderung anging. Man hätte im Nachhinein auch fast bis oben fahren können, aber der Fußweg war sehr schön. Oben finden sich sehr dekorativ die Kapelle der Panagia Faneromeni zwischen Ruinen eines venezianischen Kastelles - die "hohe Burg" (Epano Kastro) in Ergänzung zur am Meer gelegenen, ehemals befestigten Chora.

Then back to the countryside. For the two days on Andros I had rented a small car. With it, I could in the afternoon explore the east of the island after the first visit to the Chora and the big hike around it. I was not prepared in detail, but the castle on the prominent rocks caught my eye very temptingly, so I parked in the village of Kochilou and without further ado started the half-hour climb as a second hike. In retrospect, one could have almost driven to the top, but the footpath was very nice. At the top, the chapel of Panagia Faneromeni can be found very decoratively between ruins of a Venetian fort - the "high castle" (Epano Kastro) in addition to the formerly fortified Chora situated by the sea.
